It’s not always about the complicated but sometimes it is! Lining up the broached square to the mill turned features was the challenge here. Wobble type broaches have a random orientation, so using the machine’s C-axis (rotational) and Z-axis combined with a fixed tool got it done. #doosan#wilcomanufacturing #ukmfg #turnedparts #manufacturing #engineering

Turns out it was national manufacturing day yesterday, who knew?! To celebrate here are some pictures of a 2852 page book “The Engineers Year Book” from 1942.
Wouldn’t see this on the factory floor today!
This was found in our storage room, so was indeed once used on the shop floor!

Master key redesigned by Wilco and made on the @starmicronicsgb SR20The key was previously made in China and USA, it was machined and cold formed to create gear form with variable results i.e it didn’t work! Wilco redesigned the key to add an extra tooth to make it work every time and simplify the gear form to enable it to be machined in one hit rather than the previous convoluted design.
